I may be overlooking the obvious (as usual), but I simply need a TTY terminal that can be directed to communicate directly with a serial port, much like quot;Hyperterminalquot; in Windows (but hopefully more stable and simpler!). No dial-up, no nothing, just set serial port, baud rate and type.
It should be there, just in front of my eyes...
ooo
hmm
try Synaptic manager.
currently i have 22,000 entries
bound to be one
OK, OK, I wrote it would be obvious. GtkTerm seems to be the one for me.
Although mapping a FTDI serial/USB port device is the next challenge...
Edited:
Found on FTDI's website that suport for the FT232 series of cipsets were already native in Linux, but my device just keeps actvating and closing down, how could I locate it?
Edited again:
Found the quot;Braillequot; problem and it now works perfectly. This seems to be very typical ubuntu, good abd friendly support but som every annoying bugs (like the xsane scanbuttond thing or the Intel graphics wide screen problem) that could be major issues for some newcomers.
nice find. I needed a program to communicate with a serial computer. Minicom for some odd reason was having difficulty with it. Go figure. |
