Do I need to remove Beryl before upgrading to Feisty?

I'm running Edgy right now on my Inspiron 8600, with Beryl currently installed.
I'd like to upgrade to Feisty so I can use the Compiz desktop effects instead, because Beryl runs kind of slow and I couldn't get Compiz working.
Should I remove Beryl before upgrading, or does it not matter?
Also, has there been anything (besides Automatix) that has been shown to complicate the upgrade?
I have FrostWire installed, all the codecs I need (will I lose those?), and I've changed a few icons (like the OpenOffice ones) that are used in the menus.

Any advice or suggestions appreciated

I did not remove Beryl before upgrading to Feisty.  And my Beryl still works =D
