Hi,
Does anyone here know whether it is possible to get a pre-installed version of on a hard disk, so that i can simply load the install files on to a formated hard disk, put it into my laptop, turn it on and follow the installation prompts. Reason being, the old laptop i have doesnt have a floppy or CDRom rive. Its a Dell L400
Thanks Steve
You could split the drive and use an iso file?
...also, look at the alternatives. One of them ..........KUBUNTU? ....is made to work better on systems with limited resources.
is it on a network? Look for the network install.
ok i've done the following;
(Please bear in mind i have two laptops...one of which doesnt have a CDROM or any operating system, just a formatted hard disk, and its this laptop that i need to get onto)
Downloaded the lates ISO installation of Server and burnt a CD. I've also bought a hard disk and made two partitions (one being active) and copied the CD files to this partition. I've then connected that Hard Disk up to my laptop (this is the one that i want installed on but doesnt have a CD ROM)
When i boot up the laptop in never seems to boot from the installation files. I've tried making the other partition active and visa versa...
Any ideas?
