Devede advice needed

In my old XP days I used ConvertX to DVD to take an AVI file and make it playable on any DVD player. On Linux I tried Tovid which I liked but found very slow. So hence my experiment with devede to convert and then burn with K3b.

However what of the 3 options given me do I go with?

Convert files to compliant mpeg files
Create disc structure
Create an iso or bin/ cue image

I tried the iso option and have just tried to play the dvd and although the picture quality is great the sound is just white noise amp; squeals.

Am I right in my thinking that perhaps option 2 would be best?

As ever any advice greatly appreciated........

Aha - learning all the time! Seems that there is a bug which causes noise. Need a patch but can't seem to find it on the devede homepage - anyone know where I can find it?

from : localhost/thats the home page of DeVeDe
Make to ISO is the best option if you are using feisty right click on ISO image you will see write to disc on the flag left click then burn, for the patch its at the bottom of the page just follow the instructions, i personally don't have a sound problem so can't advice on that, i will say DeVeDe is very good i have no problems with home DVD players and the quality is very good for me

Thanks for the guidance - I have the patch! However and if there was an idiot emoticon I'd use it but I don't get what I'm supposed to do from here: -

First, install Mplayer and Mencoder for  Feisty as usual, and
be sure to uninstall the old mplayer-cvs-2007-04-11-0-i386.deb
package (it has the PAL problem).

When both packages are installed, just run the quot;install.shquot; script
from a command line using sudo:
         sudo ./install.sh

I'm a total beginner and it's like Greek.

Does anyone have like an a-b-c guide?

I've bumped it as I'd love some guidance!
