installing compiz/beryl

i know i have been posting somewaht thsi topic for a day know but simply got so many answers eacnh so different that i am unable to understand what to do
iwant desktop effects
my specs ar160 GB SATA
1 GB RAM

thsi is my present situation i did so to save others and my time.
so how should i install beryl/compiz if possible.
which one is better..i mean doesn't lead to fatal damges

I have that same graphic card, i followed this guide:

from : localhost//showthread.p...=beryl+xgl+ati

and it enabled both beryl and compiz.
