In theory this should work, right?

Ok, i want to backup a partition where one of my ubuntu filesystem's resides to eventually move it to a different disk.  if i just copy my filesystem over to the different directory/partition and configure grub to boot from the right place where ive copied this filesystem it should work right??

you might have to configure a lot other files too. fstab comes to mind, so that your drive mounts correctly.

ok cool... im not too worried about the other disks for the moment and should be fairly easy to setup later, i just  want to clean up my disks a bit, which involves moving stuff around. thanks for the quick reply
