fglrx installation problem

I recently did a fresh install to Feisty (Ubunutu Studio) and I've had some problems getting the proprietary fglrx driver working. ATI's website said that the last version of the driver that my chipset is supported on is 8.28.8 but when I go to produce the debs for ubuntu, it says that the OS is not supported. It worked fine under Edgy.
Am I just out of luck? (this is a laptop so no changing the video card)

I've tried the restricted driver manager and it just tells me that there's nothing I need. I've also tried Envy (it was listed at the bottom of the page) and it gives me the message that the OS is not supported as well.
