Hi guys, i have a pc with an intel pentium 3 processor running at 666mhz with 256 megs of ram, integrated graphics (i think its 32 megs integrated) and a 18 gb HD.
What flavour of ubuntu should i install, please bear in mind that my motherboard was made in 1999 so i can only use dapper drake.
I also want to install xandros OCE, what version should i get.
All the best.

Just plain would work fine, perhaps Xubuntu if you want it as slim as possible. Though you should be able to run 7.04 on that, my friend was given a used PC and had me format and install linux on it, it's about the same age (Pentium III, 32 MB graphics, from early 2000). Feisty worked perfectly, and was plenty fast.
Yeah, but the firmware was made before the cut off point, 2000. I cant run any version of ubuntu after 6.06. I tried ubuntu normal, but it was so slow. Xubuntu, was slightly better. I have not explored kubuntu much.
Whats the sys req for kubuntu like?

You could try 'Alternate CD'
Is that more difficult to install?

It's very easy. Once you are done, you can download a full graphical interface if you want.
xubuntu-6.10-alternate-i386.iso
