quot;4quot; character problem

I recently instaled/tried ubuntu 7.04 in my desktop computer, but it start putting the quot;4quot; character in text boxes and command lines etc. With ubuntu 6.06 it works fine.

I tried another kbd, without kbd, without mouse and I don't know what to do...

PC:
AMD 2600+
ASUS A7N8X - Delux
512mb

Ideas????

Is this an internationalization problem?  Check out quot;scimquot; to see if you need to set / unset something.
