Counter-Strike Hard Freeze

Every time I try to join a server that requires download of something counter-strike freezes and the only way to turn off the computer is by hard shutting it off. I've try changing the windows version to no avail. Any help is appreciated.

Sometimes I have problems with CS not loading or freezing. My best advice would be to backup the *.gcf files in ~/.wine/drive_c/program files/Steam/SteamApps/, and then uninstall wine, wipe the .wine folder, reinstall wine, and reinstall steam. then just copy the *.gcf files back so you don't have to spend hours redownloading the game.
