Ok I have gotten a new dell computer for my birthday. A xps 410 and I was wondering if it is compatible for a dual-boot with windows-XP Pro (It cam with XP)
here are the specs:
intel dual core 1.86 ghz E6320
16x dvd + R/RW CD-RW combo drive
1 gig DDR2 SDRAM at 667 mhz
250 gig sata hard drive 7200 RPM
256 MB Nvidia 8600GT-DDR3
wit an optical USB mouse and a USB keyboard
also I was wondering about document compatibility between MS office and 's replacment because I will be e-mailing homework home from school and I do presentations for my year-long project
Thanks for any help.
You should be able to dual boot just fine. And Open Office can save in the .doc format, I have used it all year and no problems.
The only thing is that you might want a PS/2 adapter for the USB keyboard. USB devices might not be ready at the GRUB menu (the bootloader), but some newer computers can do this OK.
thank you and does open office come with it or do I get it somewhere else
OpenOffice comes with it. You can check hardware compatibility here
ok thank you
now I just hafta plan this out a bit more so I'm sure it will be a one shot deal |
